Choco

I was born in Nezahualcóyotl. It was only brief.

I grew up in Mexico City. The D.F.

Gustavo A. Madero Delegation.

On 5 de Mayo, we lived in the annex of the Emanuel Church, where my parents raised me. For a short time, I also took choir classes, learning high and low registers… It was a very good experience to listen to the piano… where we focused on tuning and doing exercises. The notes are also involved.

I grew up, time passed, and we left the city to live, or survive, in Ecatepec, Ecatepec de Morelos… where I continued my life as it went. Over the course of my life, I became a graffiti artist, but obviously, with that, music was already massively present… where I woke up listening to sounds. Well, ever since I can remember, from childhood, in the neighborhoods or communities, you could hear… music, music, and it was many different genres. In Ecatepec, it was more like rock… what was well known as urban rock… and its derivatives, until ska reached my ears… That, yes, was injected into me like something running through my veins, my experience. To this day, it is more than what they considered just another trend. In fact, it had something, but that something revolutionized…

I immigrated to the USA, leaving everything behind. What hurt me the most was my music in all its splendor, in cassette formats, records, and everything we had back then. My learning of singing was also part of that. And yet, it is also my way of life. Like a gift, or learning, or teaching.

Through migration, I have learned to cope with so many things that are lived both inside and outside the USA, Mexico, Latin America, Europe, Asia, Central America, which is also very important, as well as the Middle East. Through their politics and ways of living or surviving…

TO THIS DAY, I DO IT IN A DIFFERENT WAY. IT’S JUST THAT TODAY, THESE DAYS, I SING IT ON STAGE. I KEEP HAVING FUN, I KEEP FIGHTING THAT FIGHT.

P.S.: THE UNDERGROUND IS NOT FOR SALE!!!

Singing, for me: at this moment, it is something more than revolutionizing the movement in the U.S. It also has its essence, in the way we create it, the way we harvest our seed.
